API keys are generated automatically for every business on your account. If you're integrating Flutterwave into a website or application (via our APIs, plugins or SDKs), you will need your API keys to access our features.

How to get your API key

  1. Login to your Flutterwave dashboard at dashboard.flutterwave.com.

  2. Go to Settings and click “API keys” under the DEVELOPERS tab.

API keys for live and test environments

The API keys are different for the live and test environments. Use the toggle to switch between live and test (also known as Staging) mode. The staging environment enables you to carry out tests and integrations without making live transactions.

Important: Always keep your API key(s) secret. Do not post them in any publicly accessible environments such as Medium or public Github repositories, as anyone with developer knowledge can access your account features using your secret key.
